Drogheda United boss Paul Doolin was in confident mood on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with FC Levadia.

A pre-match press conference took place at Dalymount Park, with Doolin, captain Declan O'Brien and vice-captain Stuart Byrne present to give their thoughts on the game.

Doolin believes that Levadia will prove tough opponents, given their current league form and their European record.

‘They look a decent side, they have a good group of players and it'll be difficult, no question,’ admitted Doolin.

‘But we have good players. I have great faith in the players I have here.’

United have almost a full squad to choose from, with long-term injury victims Shane Barrett and Brian Shelley the only absentees.

Declan O'Brien is looking forward to making his European debut, having missed the last two campaigns.

‘Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm fully fit and ready if I'm called upon. Hopefully I can play a part and contribute to a good win.’

Stuart Byrne, who has stood in as captain for O'Brien all year, believes the team are ready to make their mark on Europe.

‘We have to win this tie,’ insisted Byrne.

‘We need to push on and progress, I think the eyes of the league are on us.’

Tickets for the clash are available from The Drogheda Shop, Tierney's of Navan, McFadden's of Balbriggan and Dalymount Park.
