Former Celtic striker Kenny Miller claims his decision to rejoin Rangers was a ‘no-brainer’ despite the controversy over the £2million transfer.
The 28-year-old signed a three-year contract at Ibrox on Friday, less than a year after leaving Parkhead for Derby.
Miller`s transfer, valued at £2million by Derby, has proved unpopular with many Rangers fans, who voiced their opposition during last month`s Scottish Cup final.
But the Scotland striker was desperate to be reunited with former international management team Walter Smith and Ally McCoist.
He told Rangers World: ‘I`m delighted - the smile has yet to go off my face.
‘I`m over the moon, it`s taken a bit longer than I expected but I`m absolutely delighted.’
Derby chairman Adam Pearson had revealed Miller was not interested in discussing offers from other clubs once Rangers declared their interest.
Miller said: ‘It was never in doubt. When I spoke to the manager about it a lot of things go through your mind but the chance to come back to a club like this and work with the manager and coaches that are here was a no-brainer for me.
‘When a club like Rangers comes calling, it`s always going to be hard to knock that back anyway, I worked with the manager and assistant manager with Scotland, just really added to it for me.
‘I get on really well with Walter and Ally both on and off the field and I felt they got the best out of me for the national team. Hopefully that will continue next season.’
Miller is the first player to rejoin Rangers following a spell with Celtic.
He became only the third player to feature for both sides of the Old Firm in the post-war era when he joined Celtic in the summer of 2006.
Dick Advocaat originally signed Kenny Miller for Rangers in 2000 following a string of impressive displays for Hibernian but he struggled to hold down a regular place over 18 months and five of his 11 goals came in one match against St Mirren.
A successful career at Wolves, and a handful of goals for Scotland, caught the eye of Celtic when he rejected a new offer at Wolves and he moved to Parkhead in the summer of 2006.
Despite scoring against Rangers and netting several Champions League goals, he struggled to win over the Celtic fans, scoring 11 times before moving to Derby a month into his second season.
After netting four goals in 30 Barclays Premier League games, Miller has now returned to Ibrox.
