Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry wants to join Liverpool, according to the England midfielder's agent.
Liverpool have had several bids for Barry rejected since the end of the season, but he is desperate to move to Anfield and has told Villa boss Martin O'Neill that he wants to leave Villa Park.
The 27-year-old's agent Alex Black confirmed that Barry's desire to play in the Champions League was the biggest factor in his wish to join Rafa Benitez's team.
'Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England's game in Trinidad and told him how he feels,' Black said.
'At this stage of his career Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it.'
