Getafe wrote the latest chapter in their fairytale debut season in Europe after Cosmin Contra's last-minute equaliser earned them a draw in the away leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich.
Bayern dominated early on in the rain at the Allianz Arena and took a deserved lead in the 26th minute through Luca Toni.
But Romania defender Contra snatched a vital away goal for the minnows from Madrid to level the match with seconds remaining.
Getafe had scored in every one of their UEFA Cup games this season going into the match and, despite rarely looking in trouble at the back for most of the night, the 1996 UEFA Cup winners from Germany could not halt that run.
The Spanish side now have a good chance of advancing at home, where they have won four of five UEFA Cup matches this season.
Bayern came roaring out of the blocks and Toni appeared to have put them ahead in the fifth minute when he wrested possession from Getafe keeper Oscar Ustari and slotted home, but the Italian was penalised for a foul.
The game remained one-way traffic towards the Getafe goal and Bayern finally grabbed the lead in the 26th minute, Toni rising highest in the area to head home a corner.
Getafe created their first opening in the 35th minute when Bayern defender Philipp Lahm was forced to clear Mario Alvarez's header from off his own line.
The visitors were the better side after the restart and nearly evened things up when Francisco Casquero fired just over Oliver Kahn's goal.
Ottmar Hitzfeld's side though missed two golden chances to double their lead on counter-attacks.
Mark van Bommel waited too long to cross when Toni was free in the middle in the 70th minute, while two minutes later Franck Ribery was unable to control Lukas Podolski's cross with Toni again unmarked.
The Spanish side could have punished such profligacy, but Manu del Moral's header struck the left upright with six minutes to play.
And just as it looked like Bayern would hold on for a narrow victory, substitute Contra chested down a loose clearance after Manu's shot had been blocked and fired home the equaliser.
