Galway United manager Tony Cousins and his management team have been sacked by the club with immediate effect.
A club statement read: ‘The club would like to thank Tony Cousins and his management team for their efforts for Galway United FC.
‘The Board believes that a change of direction is required at this stage to achieve its stated objectives.’
Billy Clery has been appointed interim manager and will fulfil the duty on a caretaker basis.
The club are currently second from bottom in the eircom League Premier Division, on one point from four games.
Cousins took charge of 66 games as manager of the Tribesmen, winning 23, losing 21 and drawing 22.
However, after losing 2-0 at home to Shamrock Rovers on Saturday, the board took the decision to remove Cousins from his managerial role.
