Former Gretna captain Chris Innes has been made redundant by adminstrators and the club's community coaches have also been dismissed.
A statement from administrators Wilson Field, who are now running the crisis-hit Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League club, is expected this afternoon.
Defender Innes, 31, told BBC Sport: 'I got a call from the administrator to say that I was no longer of service to the club.
'I've had three and a bit fantastic years at Gretna, but now I'll have to look for pastures new.'
Gretna have closed down their community coaching operation, with coaches Kevin Somerville, Darren Edmondson, Paul Menlove, Ross Murray, David Bradbury and Kenni Dinnell all axed.
In a statement, Gretna said: 'It is with regret that the club announce the conclusion of community football activities.'
It is understood that Innes will be joined on the redundancy list by several more Gretna players this afternoon.
The former Dundee United centre-back was the first to announce his exit, however other players were being told of their fate today.
Innes joined with the club in the Third Division, and helped them progress through the Scottish Football League and achieve promotion to the SPL last year, while also reaching the 2006 Scottish Cup final.
A short statement from the administrators confirmed they ‘have found it necessary to make a number of redundancies in order to bring weekly outgoings in line with anticipated future revenues’.
Administrators Wilson Field added: 'Discussions are continuing with the SPL to facilitate the completion of fixtures to the end of the season.'
