Thierry Henry has withdrawn from the France squad to play England on Wednesday night.

Henry played the full 90 minutes of Barcelona's 4-1 defeat of Real Valladolid on Sunday but pulled out of the Les Bleus party for the match against Fabio Capello's men due to an unspecified injury.

His absence means David Trezeguet could get a rare start after being called up earlier as a replacement for the injured Karim Benzema.

Captain Patrick Vieira also withdrew after failing to overcome a thigh strain.

The Internazionale midfielder hinted it was not a serious injury, however, and he expects to be back for the Nerazzurri's weekend clash with Lazio.

He said: 'I hope to play on Saturday but there really is no point in taking risks.

'I am frustrated but I am staying with the squad. I really wanted to play.'
