David Beckham insists he is fit enough to be awarded his 100th international cap against Switzerland next week.

The 32-year-old will join an elite band of players to have made a century of England appearances if he takes to the field in next week's friendly at Wembley.

The former captain has not played a competitive game since coming on in the second half of England's fateful European Championship qualifier against Croatia in November and had his last match for his club LA Galaxy on 21 October.

The midfielder has been training with Arsenal for the past month in a bid to prove his fitness to new England manager Fabio Capello.

Beckham told BBC World: ‘I'm as fit as I can be. I'm fit and sharp and I'm ready to be selected.’
