Arie Haan, the former Dutch international who declared his interested in becoming the Republic of Ireland's next manager, has been ruled out of contention for the job.

Haan was today confirmed as the new coach of the Albanian national side for their World Cup campaign.

The Dutchman is to be given a two-year deal by the Balkan side, which he will travel to Albania to sign in the New Year.

Haan, who has managed China and Cameroon before, beat former Austria coach Hans Krankl to the Albanian post.
