Shamrock Rovers' boss Pat Scully has added Longford Town's Dessie Baker to his squad to bring the number of his new signings to five.
30-year-old Baker joins the Hoops on the back of a fine season at Longford, and Scully is delighted to have brought the Dubliner on board for 2008.
'I played with Dessie and he's an excellent signing for us,' he says. 'Other clubs were after him but he's come to Rovers because he believes in what we're trying to do here.
'It's a great opportunity for him too at this stage of his career. He's got a lot of experience under his belt and will make a huge contribution to Shamrock Rovers.'
Baker – who previously played for Shelbourne before joining Longford – has been one of the Premier Division's most exciting performers over the last decade.
'When you look at how Rovers have progressed in recent years, and add in the fact that the fans are so passionate, I had no hesitation in signing,' he says.
'I'm looking forward to the challenge. This is a great club and Pat Scully is a very ambitious manager. Next season could be a very exciting time for Rovers.'
