Former Republic of Ireland international, Andy Townsend, has turned down an approach from the FAI to be apart of their three-man head-hunting committee.
The committee who been asked by the FAI to assist in the search for the next Republic of Ireland manager will meet members of the FAI’s executive board next week to outline the Association's requirements of any potential new manager.
Townsend has been strongly linked as a possible assistant manager under the guidance of Terry Venables, who remains odds-on favourite to be named as Steven Staunton's successor.
Don Givens and Don Howe are believed to have been approached by the FAI with a view to joining the head-hunting committee.
