Jurgen Klinsmann, who led Germany to the World Cup semi-finals in 2006, has hinted he might be interested in the vacant England manager's post if he gets certain conditions.

'When there are rumours linking me to this job, I must accept that and I do so without any problems,' the former German international told German website Sport 1.

'The conditions must be suitable,' he added without giving more precision.

The 43-year-old enjoyed a sparkling career as a player and was arguably the most popular German to play in the English top flight when he enjoyed great success at Tottenham.

Married to an American, Klinsmann ran into a storm of controversy in the build-up to the 2006 World Cup for a lack of convincing results and his desire to return to his California-home between matches.

However, he became a hero when his exciting brand of football created a wave of national fervour that helped carry Germany into the semi-finals where they were finally beaten by eventual champions Italy in extra-time.

Besides Tottenham, Klinsmann enjoyed wide success at VfB Stuttgart, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Monaco.

He joined fellow German coach Bernd Schuster in being linked to the post. The Real Madrid manager has reportedly already been approached by the English FA in regards to his status and availabilty.

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who would be a popular choice with the fans, has yet to confirm or deny if he is interested while Italian Fabio Capello has openly expressed his desire to apply for the post.
