Drogheda United will not receive the eircom League of Ireland Premier Division trophy if they win the league on Friday night.

Paul Doolin's side are ten points clear of nearest rivals Cork City and will be out of touching distance should they beat the Rebels at United Park tomorrow night.

A point would be enough to confirm the Louth side as champions, but only if St Patrick's Athletic fail to beat Shamrock Rovers.

If Drogheda win the league it is proposed that the trophy be presented to the club at their next home game. That will be on 2 November against Bray Wanderers.

The proposed arrangement has been agreed by all relevant parties.
