IFA to meet with FIFA over Gibson

The Irish Football Association will meet FIFA in Zurich today to present their case against Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson playing for the Republic.

The IFA have argued that Gibson is only eligible to play for Northern Ireland, under FIFA statutes, while the FAI argue that the Good Friday Agreement gives Gibson the right to declare for the Republic of Ireland.

Gibson played for Northern Ireland at U-16 and U-17 level before rowing in with the FAI. He has been capped for the Republic at U-19, U-21, B, and senior level against Slovakia.
