Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Ireland has withdrawn from the squad for the European Championship qualifier against the Czech Republic of Wednesday due to the death of his grandmother.

The squad has arrived in Prague. Ahead of their departure, the ten players not involved in last night's 2-2 draw with Slovakia trained in Bratislava.

Another concern for manager Stephen Staunton is that Kevin Doyle has a hamstring problem, but the extent of his injury is not yet known.

An injury update is expected from the FAI this evening, with Staunton expected to announce tomorrow if he will call up any replacements.
