Inspired by the magnificent Willie Tyrrell and Eoghan O'Shea, Kilkenny City grabbed three deserved points to register their first win at Buckley Park since 3 June 2006.

Goals from Tim Kiely (12 minutes) and Colin Bargary (42 minutes) pushed City to within a point of Wexford Youths giving them hope of climbing the table under new boss Tommy Gaynor.

The Cats might have made it three before the finish when a brilliant run from defence by Tyrrell saw him send Stephen Grant clear but the chance was wasted.

It was a disappointing evening for the colourful band of Limerick 37 fans that travelled and before the finish they were calling for the head of team manager Paul McGee.
