Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Roy O'Donovan from Cork City on a three-year contract.
Sunderland are believed to have agreed a deal that will see them pay €500,000 for the player, which could rise to €1million based on appearances and international caps.
'This is a big challenge for me and when the chance came about I didn't think twice,' O'Donovan told Sunderland's official website www.safc.com.
'I had a chance to speak to Fulham and Sunderland and when I spoke to the gaffer (Roy Keane) my mind was made up.'
'It's a big chance for me but I'm looking forward to it. It's up to me to do it on the training pitch. Everyone at this club is ambitious and I want to be part of it,' he added.
O'Donovan has scored 14 times in the eircom Premier League this season and is a Republic of Ireland under-21 international.
