Former Cork City and St Patrick's Athletic manager Pat Dolan has turned down the chance to become the new Derry City boss.

Dolan revealed that he held talks with the Candystripes in the wake of Pat Fenlon's recent resignation, but was unable to agree terms with the club.

Derry have been on the hunt for a new manager since Fenlon's surprise resignation last month, after just five months in the job.

While Dolan described Derry's offer as 'tempting' he has decided to continue to focus on his media work and his role as an advisor at Wexford Youths.

Peter Hutton is currently in charge at Derry City in a caretaker role, but it is unlikely that he will be awarded the manager's job on a permanent basis.
