A brilliant team performance saw Douglas Hall from the Munster Senior league Premier division deservedly defeat Eircom league First division side Cobh Ramblers at St Coleman's Park.

The 'Hall' jumped in front after 18 minutes when Gerard O'Donovan made space and side footed a shot in off Cobh goalkeeper Steven Deasy.

O'Donovan then turned provider for Douglas's second goal as he crossed for Brendan O'Connell to brilliantly head home just before half time.

Midfielder Brendan Sweeney blasted a powerful third goal to the roof of the net after 61 minutes.

Brendan O'Connell scored his second and Douglas's fourth goal on 65 minutes, flicking home from close range.

Kevin Murray headed a late consolation for Ramblers.

Douglas Hall had FAI Cup expierience last season when they were well beaten by Waterford, and they also lost to Shamrock Rovers the season before.

Their best result before this fine win was a draw with Monaghan.

They had come out of the hat first when the draw was made, but due to work on their home pitch in Moneygourney the club decided to switch the game to St Coleman's Park.

Gerard O'Donovans first goal set his side up for the win, when he turned a defender beautifully before shooting past Deasy.

The goalscorer then sent in a cross which was brilliantly headed home by strike partner Brendan O'Connell after 42 minutes to make it 2-0 at half time.

Ford FAI Cup Man of the match Brendan Sweeney scored a fantastic third goal, when the former Limerick and Cork City midfielder scored against his old club with a blistering shot.

Brendan O'Connell, who was outstanding all night, scored his second and Douglas's fourth, flicking a Brian Wilkinson shot into the net after 65 minutes.

Ramblers who have gone twelve games unbeaten in the league to push them into second place, were a well beaten side when defender Kevin Murray headed a late goal for them.
