Denmark have appealed against UEFA's decision to award Sweden a 3-0 win after their Euro 2008 qualifier was abandoned when a Danish fan attacked the referee.

German referee Herbert Fandel abandoned the Group F match in the closing stages with the scores level at 3-3 at Copenhagen's Parken Stadium.

Fandel had awarded a penalty to Sweden and shown a red card to Denmark's Christian Poulsen when a spectator came on to the pitch and assaulted him.

UEFA handed the Swedes the points, fined the Danish Football Association (DBU) £41,000 and ordered Denmark to play their next four home qualifiers - against Liechtenstein, Spain, Latvia and Iceland between September and November - at least 250km from Copenhagen.

The Liechtenstein match will also have to be played behind closed doors, while Poulsen has also been banned for three competitive internationals for his red card which stemmed from punching Sweden striker Markus Rosenberg in the stomach.
