Cork City moved back into third place in the table after they scored two goals in a couple of first half minutes at Turners Cross to set up victory.

They go above Bohemians after Liam Kearney set up John O'Flynn, who belted his first league goal of the season past Brian Murphy after 27 minutes.

Roy O'Donovan made it 2-0 soon after with his eight league goal of the campaign, before Jason McGuiness headed a late goal to make Cork sweat near the end.

The two clubs came into this important league encounter on the back of very contrasting results.

Cork had lost heavily in Sligo the previous Saturday night, with the first team squad putting in extra training during the week, with no player having a day off from training.

Seàn Connor's Bohemians team however recorded their biggest win of the season, with a Glen Crowe hat-trick helping them to a 5-0 victory over troubled Longford at Dalymount Park.

So it was no surprise that the Dublin side fielded the same starting eleven, whilst Cork made two changes leaving Colin O'Brien and Denis Behan on the substitute's bench with Cillian Lordan and Liam Kearney starting.

Cork with the very strong wind at their backs jumped in front when Kearney who had a fine match on the left wing, played a through ball for John O'Flynn to chase and fire a powerful drive to the Bohs net.

The strike was O'Flynn's first league goal, he did hit the net in the Setanta Cup against St Patrick's Athletic, but two minutes after the lead Roy O'Donovan scored his 13th goal in all competitions, when he squeezed the ball past Murphy to send the home team two goals in front in less than half an hour.

The visitors with wind advantage after the break, not surprisingly came at Damien Richardson's side. Captain Kevin Hunt forced a tip over save from Michael Devine, before substitute Des Byrne brought another fine save from the goalkeeper with a well struck free kick.

Bohemians got what their pressure deserved when Jason McGuiness finished to the net, when Byrne's cross beat Devine.
