Bray ended a seven game run without a win as they brought Sligo crashing back down to earth.
The Bit O’Red had thumped Cork 4-1 last week, but the Wicklow side claimed their third victory of the Premier Division campaign with a goal in each half.
It was announced before the game that next Friday’s (25 May) clash between Cork and Bray at Turner’s Cross has been postponed because of Joe Gamble’s call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their two-game tour of the USA.
The swirling wind played havoc throughout the contest, with players having difficulty keeping the ball under control.
After Steve Williams had denied Jason McCartney and then Rafael Cretaro inside the opening four minutes, the Seagulls took the lead against the run of play in the 13th minute.
Alan Cawley whipped in a corner from the left which Bray skipper Clive Delaney met with a flicked eight-yard volley that went in off the under-side of the cross-bar.
Rovers went close to equalising in the 23rd minute. Full back Keith Foy drove a left wing free into the box and Chris Turner’s close rang overhead kick landed just.
They had another on the stroke of half time. From Turner’s flag-kick, Cretaro’s back post header deflected off an opponent with Williams having to tip-over.
With the conditions still a major factor, Wanderers doubled their lead on the hour.
Gary McCabe - on his full debut - jinked between two Sligo players along the left channel. He cut-in and hit a dipping 25-yard shot that crashed back off the bar. Andrei Georgescu followed up and fired the rebound to the net.
