FAI launching Referees Beginners Course

The FAI is launching a Referees Beginners Course and is inviting members of the public to attend an event in Trinity College this Saturday.

The one-day event, which will be held at the Swift Centre in the Dublin college, will guide participants through the basics of what it takes to become a referee.

The event is for not just for those interesting in taking up the whistle. Those interested in merely learning more about the rules of the game are also welcome.

The course runs from 9am to 5pm and costs €25.

The FAI will shortly be appointing a Referee Recruitment Officer, whose job it will be to increase the number of people operating as referees throughout the country.

The eircom League of Ireland recently appointed its first ever non-Irish referee, when Tomasz Supercynski from Poland joined the ranks of league referees.

For further information on the position of Referee Recruitment Officer, visit the FAI’s website at www.fai.ie and click on careers.
