Longford's recent resurgence continued as they extended their unbeaten run in the eircom League of Ireland Premier Division to four games with this draw against fellow strugglers Bray Wanderers.

A dull encounter to say the least, it is quite evident why both of these sides languish in the nether regions of the table.

The midland outfit, however, have picked up six points from their last four league outings, which sees them move a few points clear of Waterford United, who prop up the table.

This relegation battle provided little by way of goalmouth activity. In fact, the first chance of the game after 30 minutes resulted in Longford's goal.

Johnny Martin provided a cross from the right-hand side of the Bray penalty area.

His brother Robbie cracked a shot of the post, and the rebound fell for David Freeman, who smashed home his first goal of the season.

Bray started the second half in sprightly fashion and grabbed an equaliser inside two minutes of the restart.

Alan Cawley's free-kick was only half cleared by Kevin Doherty and Andrei Georgescu was on hand to stab the ball home.

Georgescu had another chance 11 minutes from time but his shot was well saved by Shay Kelly.

Longford did have one further scoring opportunity late on but Gary Deegan's free kick cleared Chris O'Connor’s crossbar.
