Aidan O'Kane scored a late winner totally against the run of play to give Linfield a 1-0 win over Cork City in the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final at Windsor Park.

The win puts Linfield in the final against Drogheda United back at Windsor Park on 12 May.

O'Kane struck on 85 minutes when keeper Michael Devine and then man-of-the-match Joe Gamble failed to clear Jamie Mulgrew's cross to shoot home from a tight angle.

The result was very harsh on Cork who dominated for long spells.

Linfield's Paul McAreavey should have done better than shoot tamely straight at Devine on seven minutes.

Cork took command thereafter with Admir Softic and Gamble firing off target before John O’Flynn wasted the best opening of the first half on 23 minutes.

A sublime through pass from skipper Dan Murray split the home defence to put O'Flynn in the clear. But the striker scuffed his left-foot shot well off target with only keeper Alan Mannus to beat.

Denis Behan then burst through and seemed set to score on 36 minutes, but this poor control allowed for a terrific last-ditched tackle from James Ervin to take the ball off his toe.

Cork continued to run the game in the second half with Colin O'Brien hitting the bar.

Mannus made a sublime stop from Behan before the twist in the tail put Linfield through.
