Former Wolverhampton Wanderers player Paul Cook has been confirmed as the new manager of Sligo Rovers.
Cook was unveiled as the Bit o’ Red’s new boss at a press conference on Friday.
Rovers have been without a boss since the departure of Rob McDonald, and Cook will be hoping to immediately reverse a slump that has seen the side lose three games in a row.
Cook, who helped Accrington Stanley to promotion to the Football League in 2006 as a player/coach, was appointed as the boss of conference side Southport after retiring last summer, but lasted just eight months at the club and departed in January.
Although he will take charge of the side for tomorrow night's visit of Waterford, Cook said that interim managers Leo Tierney and Dessie Cawley will remain a part of his management team.
‘Both Dessie and Leo will be heavily involved and I also want to bring in an assistant who knows the league, someone who will excite the fans.’
Meanwhile, Rovers have also announced that exciting young full-back Seamus Coleman has signed a one-year extension to his contract.
