Cobh Ramblers defeated eight-man Limerick under the new floodlights at St Coleman's Park.
Both sides came into the game in good form with Limerick unbeaten in their four league games so far and Ramblers following up back-to-back league wins against Finn Harps and Kildare County.
Cobh took the lead after half an hour from the penalty spot through Carey after Alan King was fouled by Anthony Hayes. Hayes was shown the red card by referee Eddie McNally.
Ramblers were two when Jamie Nolan scored from a Graham Cummins pass seven minutes before the break.
The home side made sure of victory when Gareth Cambridge headed home sub Davin O'Neill's cross just after the hour mark.
Limerick finished with eight men as full-back Peter White was sent off for a second yellow card and in the last minute goalkeeper Jimmy Fyffe was dismissed for striking Cobh substitute Kieran O'Rielly.
