Chelsea and Arsenal have both been hit with a £100,000 fine for the melee which marred the end of the Carling Cup final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
They were also reprimanded by the Football Association after players from both sides were involved in a mass confrontation - sparked by Arsenal captain Kolo Toure's challenge on Mikel Jon Obi.
The fracas also saw both managers enter the playing arena as Jose Mourinho and Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger attempted to calm the situation.
Both clubs admitted the charge of failing to ensure that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative and/or violent behaviour, and were punished following an FA disciplinary commission hearing.
Chelsea are considering their response to the punishment, along with the Gunners, after the commission found that Arsenal players had been 'marginally' more involved in the incident.
The Blues had been warned in the past in proven cases where the general behaviour of their players had not been up to the required standard and the commission felt their involvement justified a similar financial penalty.
Mikel and Toure were dismissed once order had been restored and Arsenal's Togo international striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who confronted referee Howard Webb and refused to immediately leave the pitch, was also dismissed.
The FA's disciplinary commission stated that they viewed the incident as 'serious, unacceptable and damaging to the image of the game'.
However, they took into consideration the guilty pleas and the mitigation put forward by both Barclays Premiership clubs, following Chelsea's 2-1 triumph thanks to a brace of goals from Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba.
Chelsea were twice fined £10,000 - and warned as to their future conduct - after being found guilty of two separate indictments last March, the first against West Brom and the second in a 1-0 defeat to Fulham.
The maximum financial sanction of £250,000 has never been handed down for such an offence.
Chelsea meanwhile have banned four supporters following a number of incidents during the FA Cup quarter-final replay victory over Tottenham.
The game was overshadowed by a Spurs supporter attempting to punch Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard as he celebrated the win.
A Chelsea supporter was also cautioned for entering the field of play after the tame and now the club has taken more action against fans who refused to obey their request to stop throwing celery at matches.
A spokesperson for the club said: 'At the FA Cup replay against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on 19 March, three Chelsea supporters were arrested - two for throwing celery and one for pitch incursion.
'In addition, one person was seen throwing celery and reported to the club. All four people have been banned by the club and three will face court bans depending on the outcome of any criminal proceedings.'
