Paul Dunphy came back to haunt Bohemians as Bray Wanderers took all three points at the Carlisle Grounds with a 1-0 victory.

Shown the door at Dalymount Park after Sean Connor's arrival, the striker popped up with the all important score to give Wanderers their first win of the season.

The result only added to the Gypsies poor start to the campaign after their opening day draw with Drogheda.

With both teams struggling to come to terms with the windy conditions, it was the Dubliners who had the early chances.

With the visitors on top, the Wicklow side took a 28th minute lead somewhat against the run of play.

Keeper Steve Williams launched a free-kick upfield which was helped on by Paul Caffrey. Dunphy nipped between two defenders to fire a 16-yard half volley past Brian Murphy and into the far corner.

Williams came to the Seagulls rescue in the 39th minute when he got down well to smother at Darren Mansaram’s feet after a Derek Tyrrell sliced in the box.

Then first half injury time, Wanderers had the opportunity to double that advantage.

Colm Tresson capitalised on a poor Jason McGuinness back header. But Murphy came to the edge of the box to block the volley with his chest.

Eddie Gormley's men had a real let-off eight minutes after the restart. From Mark Rossiter right wing delivery, Mansaram flick fell header fell to Crowe. But the ball got stuck under the former Irish international's feet which allowed Tyrrell to concede a corner.
