Watford have confirmed the signing of striker Steven Kabba in a £500,000 transfer from fellow Barclays Premiership strugglers Sheffield United.

The 25-year-old Londoner has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Vicarage Road to bring to an end a spell of more than four years in Yorkshire following a £250,000 move from Crystal Palace in November 2002.

Kabba has endured a number of injuries during his time at Bramall Lane but his nine league goals last season and partnership with Neil Shipperley was instrumental in the Blades' fine start to the campaign which culminated in promotion to the top flight.

The forward scored a total of 23 goals in 53 league and cup starts for the Blades but he has not started a Premiership game this season and made his final appearance as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at West Ham in November.

The Hornets moved to improve a forward line which has managed just 14 goals between them this season with Ashley Young, who switched to Aston Villa earlier this week for £9.65million, the leading scorer with just three goals.

They have also been severely hampered by the absence of Marlon King who is out for the season after being injured against Arsenal in October.

Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd told the club's official website, www.watfordfc.co.uk: 'He is quick, has an eye for goal and has got loads of development left in him at 25 years old.'
