McDonald strengthens Sligo squad

Sligo Rovers boss Rob McDonald has completed the signing of two players ahead of his first season in charge of the club.

Former Australian Under-20 international goalkeeper Tomislav Arcaba has signed for the club from Australian side Wollongong Wolves, and becomes the second Australian player at Rovers, joining compatriot Adam Hughes.

Meanwhile, English defender Kevin Julian is re-united with fellow Yorkshire native McDonald, who he previously worked with at Ajax America in Florida.

McDonald also revealed that Limavady United midfielder Michael Hegarty will be the club’s physio for next season. He has also brought Sligo-man Rafael Cretaro back to the club from Galway United.

The Showgrounds supremo speaking about the new signings said: 'Kevin is a player I know from my time working with top class soccer camps in America. He is an ex-pro from Halifax Town and he feels himself that he was wrongfully released by Halifax and he is determined to prove himself.

'Tommy (Arcaba) is a 'keeper of international standard and he has come with some very good references. He has signed a two-year deal.'
