Shay Given looks set to miss Ireland's next Euro 2008 qualifier

Shay Given has handed Irish manager Stephen Staunton a selection headache ahead of next month's Euro 2008 qualifier away to San Marino.

Given suffered a groin injury on club duty for Newcastle United against West Ham United over the weekend.

A scan today looks to have ruled him out of action for a month meaning he's certain to miss the 7 February encounter.

Should Given miss the encounter, Sheffield United shot-stopper Paddy Kenny is likely to replace him.

Staunton has other injury worries for the game, with Kevin Doyle likely to miss the clash with a hamstring injury, while Steven Reid is ruled out for the season with a knee ligament injury.
