David Beckham has insisted he will 'continue to give his full commitment and professionalism' to Real Madrid after the Spanish club's manager Fabio Capello announced the former England captain would not play again this season.

Capello ruled out a return to the Madrid first team for Beckham following confirmation of the midfielder's move to LA Galaxy at the end of his contract in Spain.

But Simon Oliveira, Beckham's representative, told PA Sport: 'As far as David is aware he has a contract for the remainder of the season and remains dedicated to the club and its supporters.

'David is surprised at the quotes from Fabio Capello and nobody from the club has informed him of their intentions.

'He will continue to give his full commitment and professionalism to the club.'

Speaking at today's press conference ahead of tomorrow's league match with Real Zaragoza, Capello told reporters that Beckham's decision to quit the club this summer means he no longer has a role to play at the Spanish giants.

The former England captain announced on Thursday that he would be leaving Real at the end of his contract in June, when he will leaving for Los Angeles.

Capello said Beckham would continue to train with the club prior to his transatlantic move.
