Finn Harps defender Jonathan Minnock and goalkeeper James Gallagher have both signed new two-year contracts with the club which will see them remain at Finn Park until the end of the 2008 season and in the process become the first two 'out-of-contract' players to be re-signed by new manager Paul Hegarty.
Hegarty said: 'I'm delighted that the two lads have agreed to sign new deals. They are two very experienced players who have been with the club a good number of years.'
Hegarty also said that a number of players currently out of contract with the club would also be signing new deals in the coming days and weeks, while some new faces will also be putting pen-to-paper for the club shortly.
2007 will see 30-year-old Minnock enter his 12th season with the Donegal club after making his debut for Harps in a League Cup tie against Derry City at the start of the 1995-96 season.
Apart from one season at Shelbourne, where he won a Premier Division Championship medal, Minnock has played all his senior football for Harps. Last season, he became the first ever player to play more than 400 games for Harps and was awarded a testimonial by the club.
Gallagher enters his fourth season at the club. The 25-year-old signed for the club in December 2003 from St Patrick's Athletic and was an ever-present in the Harps side that won the First Division Championship with a record number of points.
However, due to injury, Gallagher missed the start of the 2005 Premier Division season and saw his place taken by Gavin Cullen.
Having failed to make an appearance that season, he spent the second half of 2005 on loan at Dublin City where he picked up a First Division runners-up medal.
Gallagher took over from Cullen again as first choice 'keeper shortly after the start of the 2006 season and played 35 games for the club last year.
