Liverpool welcome back bad-boy Craig Bellamy for Saturday's game

Rafael Benitez expects to have Craig Bellamy in his squad for the clash with Manchester City at Anfield.

The Wales striker is involved in a court case in Cardiff but Benitez is blighted by a catalogue of injury problems and needs the player.

Liverpool are without Xabi Alonso and Mark Gonzalez with hamstring problems, while Stephen Warnock has had a groin operation. Jermaine Pennant is doubtful with a hamstring strain.

Provisional squad: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger, Riise, Luis Garcia, Pennant, Gerrard, Zenden, Bellamy, Crouch, Kuyt, Fowler, Dudek, Guthrie, Hammill, Peltier.

Dietmar Hamann returns to Manchester City's squad for the trip to former club Liverpool.

Hamann has finally recovered from a thigh injury that has kept him out for over a month, although the best the German can probably hope for is a place on the bench.

Trevor Sinclair (knee) and DaMarcus Beasley (ankle) are both missing, while Sun Jihai has been sent to Germany to try and find a solution to the hamstring strain that has sidelined him all season.

Squad: Weaver, Isaksson, Hart, Richards, Onuoha, Dunne, Distin, M Mills, Thatcher, Jordan, Johnson, Vassell, Barton, Reyna, Hamann, Samaras, Corradi, Dickov, Sturridge.
