Germany coach Joachim Low has called Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Paul Freier into his squad for Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifying clash in Cyprus.
Low made the move after Piotr Trochowski and Bernd Schneider were both forced to pull out after picking up injuries this weekend.
The 27-year-old Freier, who has made 18 international appearances, last played for Germany during the 2-2 friendly draw with Argentina in February before losing his place ahead of the World Cup.
Stuttgart goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand is set to start the game after Arsenal's Jens Lehmann was ruled out with flu.
The Germany number one will not make the trip to Nicosia, meaning Low has also called Hannover's Robert Enke into his squad as a replacement.
Germany goalkeeping coach Andreas Kopke got a close look at both Enke and Hildebrand on Sunday after Hannover and Stuttgart met in the Bundesliga, with Hildebrand's Stuttgart claiming a 2-1 win to move to the top of the German top flight.
