Longford Town were full value for their 3-0 eircom League Premier Division win over Bohemians in Flancare Park tonight.

The Midlanders have inflicted maximum damage on the Phibsboro outfit this season, returning a maximum nine points from their three league clashes.

This was a game lacking in goalmouth activity for the opening 36 minutes. Longford, however, enjoyed a purple patch late in the first half, scoring twice within 90 seconds to spark the tie into life.

The opening goal arrived in the 37th minute. Sean Prunty played a neat one-two with Dean Fitzgerald before making Matt Gregg stretch to keep his net intact. However, Dessie Baker pounced on the loose ball to fire his side in front.

The home side doubled their advantage less than two minutes later. Longford forced their fifth corner, which was floated in by Baker. However, the unfortunate Thomas Heary could only watch in dismay as his defensive header crept inside Gregg's right hand post.

Jason McGuinness twice went close to giving Bohs a lifeline. He should have done much better than hit the side-netting on the stroke of half-time, while his superbly struck 64th minute free-kick hit Shay Kelly's crossbar.

Longford added a third in stoppage time. Alan Kirby’s cross was nodded down by Dave Mooney into the path of Dessie Baker and his exceptional finish gave Gregg no chance.
