Jurgen Klinsmann has denied reports that he has asked for a whopping €2.5 million a year salary to coach the United States national team.
Klinsmann, a World Cup winner with West Germany in 1990, is in preliminary discussions with the United States Football Federation but said the figures mentioned in the media were fictional.
'It is nonsense. As usual the speculation is not true and the figures have just been made up,' Klinsmann said in newspaper Kolner Express.
'The negotiations have only just started and there is no time pressure.'
Klinsmann, 42, guided his homeland Germany to a creditable third at the World Cup but turned down a contract extension to spend time with his family in California.
