After three home wins in a week and 10 goals scored, Liverpool hope they have turned the corner in an erratic season.

Next up at Anfield tomorrow are promoted Reading, beaten 4-3 last week in the Carling Cup, and striker Peter Crouch understands the importance of a fourth home win in 11 days.

Liverpool are currently eighth in the table, 11 points behind Manchester United and Chelsea, and Crouch said: 'It is enjoyable at the moment as we are scoring goals and are playing good football.

'We have kept the same side in two games and played well in both of them, so hopefully we can go on a bit of a run.

'Perhaps the Champions League victory over Bordeaux on Tuesday can be a turning point in the season. We have always felt we have the quality to win games. Now it is a case of showing it.'

Boss Rafael Benitez surprised the critics by finally fielding an unchanged side against Bordeaux, after tinkering with his line-up for 99 successive matches previously.

But with Xabi Alonso struggling with knee and ankle problems and Luis Garcia troubled by a hamstring injury, the chances are the Spaniard will return to his rotational ways.

However, Crouch believes that whoever plays Liverpool are in the right frame of mind for another win.

He added: 'We have certainly been in good form at home and after this weekend we have got to take that form away from home. With the players we have, we are certainly capable of doing that.

'We have fallen behind a touch in the league and we have got a lot of making up to do. We believe we can do it and hopefully we can go out and prove it. We have a big squad and I am sure the manager will use it.

'We go into the next game full of confidence after beating Villa, but you can do all the talking you want, you still have to get results.'

With Steven Gerrard finally on the score sheet this term Crouch is confident that results will now improve.

'It was good to see Steve get on target,' he added. 'He brings so much to the team anyway, not just goals.

'I would not be surprised if he went on a little run. He sets himself high standards and sometimes they are hard to live up to. But he always seems to be able to do it.'
