Cobh edge out Limerick

Cobh completed back-to-back league wins when they defeated Limerick 1-0 and consolidated fourth position in the table at St Coleman's Park.

Ramblers took the led after 15 minutes when centre-back David Breen headed home a Kenny Coleman free-kick.

The home side almost had a second goal just after the break when Steve Yelverton headed a David Warren corner-kick against the post.

Warren then struck a shot off the underside of the crossbar with 12 minutes remaining.

Both these clubs had looked as if they had a chance of winning the championship at various stages of the season, in fact Limerick led the pack for a number of weeks but this Munster derby had a typical end-of-season feel to it.

Most of the conversation at the game surrounded the construction of the new 910-seater stand, with work just commencing as the famous 'bicycle shed' side of the ground was demolished during the week.
