Henrique Hilario will make his Chelsea debut in goal against Barcelona after shocking injuries to Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini at Reading.
Cech is still in hospital after emergency surgery on his fractured skull following a collision with Stephen Hunt in the first minute of Saturday's Barclays Premiership game.
Cudicini, who was knocked unconscious and swallowed his tongue after coming on as a sub at Reading, is not ready to play.
Hilario will start in goal against Barca with rookie Belgian keeper Yves Makabu Ma Kalambay, 20, also in Jose Mourinho's squad.
Michael Ballack, who has been banned from the last three Premiership games after his red card against Liverpool, is available.
Claude Makelele and Ashley Cole, who missed the game at Reading, should be fit to return.
