It's advantage Shelbourne, following Drogheda United's 2-1 defeat of Derry City at the Brandywell tonight.
Derry also lost their unbeaten record at home, having gone 21 matches without a loss in all competitions this season.
Despite Derry's dominance it was Drogheda who broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when Sean Hargan bundled the ball over the line.
But the Candystripes bounced back within 60 seconds. McGlynn found Martyn in the centre of the park and the Sligo man went on a run before driving the ball home from 16 yards.
In the 63rd minute the home side went close again, Peter Hutton heading over following a Killian Brennan free-kick.
Derry continued to press and in the 72nd minute Kelly flicked-on a Hargan throw-in before Martyn's shot was touched over the crossbar by Connor.
However, disaster struck in the 82nd minute when Barrett found substitute, Sami Ristilla, and the striker got in behind Forde to poke an angled shot to the net.
Try as they did to level matters, the home side failed to grab a late equaliser and their hopes of going one better than last season now appears to be in serious doubt.
