Athlone Town have Alan Kelly suspended but should otherwise be at full strength as they hope to score against Shamrock Rovers for the first time in four games this season.
Rovers have a major reshuffle on hand due to ineligibility and injuries.
Andy Myler, Chris Breen, Paul Shiels, Mark O’Brien, David McGill and Derek Pender are all cup-tied while Shane Guthrie remains out injured.
Regular right-back Ger O’Brien and striker Tadhg Purcell are also unlikely to feature due to knocks.
Boss Pat Scully does have left-back Robbie Clarke returning from suspension.
