Liverpool's projected new 60,000-capacity stadium has been given the green light by the city council.
Plans for a new all-seater arena in Stanley Park have been in the pipeline for some time and today council leaders approved a lease for land close to Anfield.
Now the Barclays Premiership club must demonstrate to the city council they are able to fund the new stadium.
Council leader Warren Bradley added: 'If Liverpool have the funding in place, they can start on the site from January.'
