Andy van der Meyde has been fined by Everton for breaking club rules by going out in Liverpool on Sunday night.
The 26-year-old Dutch winger was hospitalised on Monday with breathing difficulties following the night out and Police are investigating claims his drink was spiked.
Toffees boss David Moyes told the club's website, evertonfc.com: 'I have spoken with Andy and he is sorry for what has happened.
'He will be fined because he should not have been out but that is the end of the matter.'
Van der Meyde is now out of hospital.
