Manchester City are on the brink of selling Irish midfielder Willo Flood to Cardiff City in a cut-price £200,000 switch.
Dublin-born Flood, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, was due to fall out of contract next summer and will become Cardiff's 11th summer signing.
Flood can play on the right of midfield, a role Cardiff need to fill, and at 21 clearly feels he is not going to break through at Eastlands.
The Irish midfielder is expected to sign a four-year contract with Cardiff.
Meanwhile, City have rejected suggestions they have given captain Sylvain Distin permission to talk to Middlesbrough over a potential move to the Riverside.
Distin has yet to sign a contract extension with City and with his present deal due to expire next summer, the Blues know they risk losing the 29-year-old for nothing in 12 months.
However City insist there has been no recent contact from the Teesside outfit.
