Hearts open campaign with away win

Hearts opened up their Bank of Scotland Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win over Dunfermline in a dramatic afternoon at East End Park.

Jambos striker Roman Bednar gave the visitors the lead with a close range volley after 14 minutes but former Hearts player Stephen Simmons equalised just after the hour mark with a header from a Scott Muirhead corner.

However, in the 77th minute Michal Pospisil grabbed the winner after Bruno Aguiar's free-kick had rebounded off the crossbar.

Dunfermline were reduced to 10 men minutes later when substitute Andy Tod, who had replaced new signing Noel Whelan after just five minutes, was shown his second yellow card of the game for a heavy challenge on Tynecastle midfielder Julien Brellier.
