Brian Little believes he can return to Aston Villa and help provide some much-needed stability after David O'Leary's exit.
Little, 52, managed Villa between November 1994 and February 1998 during which time they lifted the League Cup as well as reaching an FA Cup semi-final and UEFA Cup quarter-final.
Now Little, out of work after leaving Tranmere last month, believes he can help restore some order by providing a link between chairman Doug Ellis and the fans.
He told the Daily Express: 'I'm sure I could provide the buffer between the chairman and fans and restore harmony.
'A lot of people thought I left because of Doug, but that wasn't the case. I had to resign because of family problems. I'm re-married, have two young children and know I could walk back and do the job.'
