Middlesbrough striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu missed the start of pre-season training today after encountering a visa problem.
The 23-year-old Nigerian was due back with the rest of his team-mates this morning, but was conspicuous by his absence as new boss Gareth Southgate oversaw early preparations for the 2006-07 season.
However, Southgate expects the problem to be cleared up swiftly and that Boro's leading scorer in the last campaign will be back in harness tomorrow.
Southgate said: 'He had a problem with his visa in terms of renewing it, but he should be here tomorrow.'
Meanwhile, Mark Schwarzer, Mark Viduka and Stewart Downing were also missing after being given time off to recover from their exploits at the World Cup finals.
