Derry City keep pressure on league leaders

Goals from Barry Molloy and Mark Farren saw Derry City claim a 2-1 victory over ten-man Bohemians at Dalymount Park tonight.

Derry seized the initiative on 21 minutes after being awarded a free just outside the Bohs box.

Kevin Deery played a short ball into Barry Molloy who curled a low strike inside the right post.

However, Bohemians continued to press forward with Irish Under-19 captain John Paul Kelly playing a pivotal role in midfield.

Bohs had the chance to draw level on 38 minutes but Gareth Farrelly's effort was saved by David Forde.

Bohemians persistence was finally rewarded on 41 minutes when Vinny Arkins got the slightest of touches on a free from Farrelly to convert from five yards out.

The home side then had claims for a penalty turned down when Stephen Rice was upended in the penalty area.

The game took a dramatic turn after the break when Derry were awarded a penalty on 53 minutes which Mark Farren duly converted.

It went from bad to worse for the home side when Bohemians midfielder Thomas Heary picked up a straight red moments later and there was no way back for the Dublin side.
